How Winzer replaced a rented e-commerce platform with a growth engine they control

Winzer, a 60-year-old franchise-based MRO distributor, partnered with oAppsNET to eliminate a rigid, third-party commerce layer and replace it with a native Oracle Cloud Infrastructure platform — saving $1.2M per contract and moving 95% of sales volume to the new system.

  • $1.2MSaved in licensing and integration costs over a 3-year contract
  • 900KSKUs searchable with intelligent AI-powered catalog search
  • 95%Of Winzer's total sales volume now running through the new platform

Background

Sixty years in the field — and a platform that couldn’t keep up

Winzer has served industrial customers for over six decades. Franchise sales reps are on the ground every day — in warehouses, on shop floors, at construction sites — selling MRO supplies, fasteners, and industrial products. Commerce has to work the way they work.

That’s the nature of franchise distribution: pricing is customer-specific, entitlements vary by rep type, and connectivity is never guaranteed. Generic e-commerce platforms aren’t designed for any of that.

The problem

A rigid, vendor-dependent platform sitting on top of Fusion

  • Vendor lock-in: every customization required a vendor ticket — no self-serve control
  • Rising licensing costs: each new franchisee added to a licensing bill growing faster than revenue
  • Fusion disconnect: third-party layer fought Oracle Fusion rather than speaking its language
  • Scale mismatch: 900,000-product catalog and a nationwide network — the platform couldn't match it

The solution

Rebuilding native — on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure using E-Commerce Light, by oAppsNET

Winzer partnered with oAppsNET to replace the third-party layer entirely. The premise was straightforward: if Oracle Fusion is the system of truth for orders, pricing, and inventory, the commerce platform should speak the same language natively.

  • Offline capability: works in metal-framed warehouses and rural routes — syncs to Fusion on reconnect
  • Mobile-first design: full catalog browsing, quoting, and order placement optimized for field reps
  • In-field quoting: build and submit quotes on the spot, anywhere in the field
  • Seamless Fusion sync: orders, pricing, and inventory always in sync with the Oracle system of record
  • Customer-specific pricing: each rep pulls the right contract pricing for their customer — no manual lookups
  • Complex model support: franchise reps, direct sales, and national accounts — each with their own pricing, all on one platform

The results

The results speak for themselves. Winzer saved $1.2 million over three years in licensing and integration costs, and 95% of total sales volume now runs through the new platform. Franchise reps are more productive on every site visit — placing orders, pulling customer pricing, and building quotes from anywhere, even offline. And because the platform is built natively on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AI capabilities like intelligent catalog search, purchase history insights, and product recommendations are baked in from the start.

“Our franchise reps are more productive on every site visit. And we're now on a platform that's built for AI. oAppsNET made that happen.”
